Basically, they live in ponds and rivers and try to drag people down so they can suck their blood. They also like to cause mischief. Despite this, they're actually very polite, so if you trick them into bowing, the liquid in the hollows of their heads will spill over and they'll become powerless. You can also ward them off by throwing them a cucumber with your name carved in it.
