Baku

In Japanese mythology, the baku is said to be auspicious, because it feeds on people's nightmares. In modern Japanese, baku can also mean tapir, which is interesting, because there's another Japanese word that can mean a mythological beast as well as the name of an animal not native to Japan. But that's another story for another day.
